manidoo-giizis 2010 Great Spirit Moon – January  In addition to coring the lake January provided time for students to work on Science Fair projects – conducting experiments, writing research papers, and creating display boards. The local Science Fairs are in January, usually held at area schools. UMD and FDLTCC hold regional fairs a few weeks later with the State Science Fair later in the Winter. Students can work in groups or on their own.

Science Fair provides students skills in asking good questions, working through options and possible solutions with a conclusion to their study. Incorporating the higher order thinking skills provides beneficial life long skills.

Talk with your school’s science teacher about participating in your local fair. Do you have more questions? Talk with Holly at camp.
