OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAabitaa-niibini-giizis 2010 Half Way Through Summer Moon- July A small group of high school students and their teachers traveled to Montana to participate in GLOBE training and experimental study, an international study of the earth.  Data collected is part of an international data base used to better understand the health of the Earth. Teachers are able to use this collective study in their classrooms as well as add to the data through student’s observations seasonally.

The group were also able to visit Glacier National Park  where students assisted the LacCore scientists in collecting a core. The water was clear and cool. Salish Kootenai Tribal College (SKTC) hosted the group providing meals, housing and hospitality throughout the week or so spent together. We toured the Flathead Reservation which is comprised of The Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes. A biologist and artist professor from SKTC shared his knowledge of the native plants, geology and culture.
