February camp was spent out doors. Friday night Tom Howse talked with us about the tribes effort to reestablish sturgeon. Students learned a lot about the life cycle of the giant fish and were encouraged with some evidence that the great fish is on the way back.
Bob Shemick from White Earth told stories about the weather and Ojibwe connections to climate change. He was up in our areas for the Snow Snake competition at the Ojibway School, Saturday. We visited the Snowsnake Competition and tried our hand at it Saturday afternoon!
Saturday morning we went ice fishing! Mr. Lindner and Mr. Ray prepared the fishing supplies and we had a great day trying our hand at fishing! It was fun to try fishing. We used poles as well as pop-up flags all over the lake!
Saturday night we made fishing lures with Mr. Yellowman and printed fish on T-shirts (after Japanese gyotako fish prints) with Ms. Olson.
